DRIVER'S LICENSES/REGISTRATION
 ..First-time drivers must be at least 17 years old to apply for a
personal driver's license, and must pass a written test, driving
test and vision exam.
..New residents to Louisiana must obtain a LA driver's license,
register their vehicle and obtain a LA license plate within 30
days of establishing residency. Drivers with valid out-of-state
licenses need only pass the vision exam.
..The cost is approximately $24.50 for a 4-year license, although
fees vary according to parish. Only cash, cashier's check or
money order is accepted.

BRAKE TAGS / INSPECTION STICKERS
Louisiana residents are required to pass annual motor vehicle
safety inspections. Vehicles registered in Iberville and West Baton
Rouge Parishes must be inspected in their parish, and the cost
is $13.00. In all other parishes the cost is $10.00. Most service
garages and full-service gas stations can perform an inspection.
Look for an official orange "Motor Vehicle Inspection Station" sign.
